War Room
War Room
A 100% client-side narrative strategy game. Like Risk, but every plan you write is judged by an AI Game Master who decides whether your strategy earns victory or catastrophe.
Every turn you write a free-text plan in plain language: "I send the Black Legion through the Alpine passes at night, bribing the border guards with plundered Milanese gold." An AI Game Master reads it, weighs your perks against the defender's, factors in the scenario and epoch, and adjudicates. Sometimes you conquer. Sometimes your legion vanishes in a blizzard. The map changes. The chronicle writes itself.
How it works
1. Configure
Bring your own API key (OpenAI, Gemini, or OpenRouter: free tier works). Pick a map, a victory condition, and a world scenario.
2. Plan
On your turn, describe your action in natural language. No menus, no click-attack-click-end-turn, just prose. Creativity is rewarded.
3. Adjudicate
The Game Master writes a 3 to 6 sentence narrative ruling: success, failure, or partial outcome. It may also trigger side effects that reshape any faction on the board.
Features
Three Maps
Italy (22 territories), USA (50 states), Europe (43 nations). Real borders, real adjacency, including maritime shortcuts.
Two AI Engines
A neutral Game Master judges every action. An Opponent AI runs the enemy factions with their own personality and strategy.
Five Scenarios
Mixed, Hyper Realism (with epoch: try 1350), Fantasy, Sci-Fi, or your own custom ruleset. The scenario shapes every ruling.
Advisor and Appeal
Think the GM was unfair? Call the Advisor: an independent AI that reviews the whole turn and can overturn the verdict.
100% Client-Side
No backend, no database, no tracking. Your API key never leaves your browser. Saves live in your localStorage.
Hotseat Multiplayer
Any faction can be controlled by a human or the AI. Play solo against AI, or pass the device around and each take a faction.
Bilingual UI
Full UI and AI narration in English or Italian. Switch language at any time.

FAQ
Do I need to pay to play?
The game is free. You need an LLM API key. OpenRouter has free models that work out of the box. Paid models (GPT-4, Claude, etc.) give richer narration but aren't required.
Where does my API key go?
Nowhere. It's stored in your browser's localStorage and sent directly from your browser to your chosen provider. No server in the middle.
Single-player or multiplayer?
Both. Any faction can be set to Human or AI in the setup wizard. Play solo against AI opponents, or gather friends around one device in hotseat mode and each take command of a faction. The AI plays any faction you don't claim, with its own personality and strategy.
Can the AI cheat?
The Game Master is instructed to be a fair, impartial arbiter: no deus ex machina, symmetric realism, narrative weight. If you disagree with a ruling, the Advisor system lets you appeal and an independent AI re-reviews the turn.
Take command
